Site Plan

Purpose

I want to get more people to know about my photography business. I also want them to be able to see the pictures I sell and tell them how to order those pictures.

Audience

My audience will mainly be adults. They are the people that will be most interested in purchasing my prints and contract me for their photography needs. College students will be my secondary audience because they are the most likely to have me take pictures for them at their wedding.

Specific characteristics of my audience

  • The age range is from 18 to 100.
  • My web hosting has unlimited bandwidth.
  • I will make sure all of my pages validate so that the majority of people can see all that my site has to offer.
  • I will also market toward medical professionals in my print area.

Why my site is unique

The main point that sets my site apart from other sites is that I not only have the information of the photography services I offer but I also will have a way that people can buy prints that they like. I want to offer my audience a one stop photography stop.

Site Basics

My home page as well as all the other pages will have links between all the pages. This will offer easy navigation. I also will include tabs for different sections. It will have a very classy background that will give my site the professional appeal.

Domain Name

My domain name is photohughes.com. I feel that this is very easy to remember and it does not limit me to just one classification of photography.

Some of my Favorite Sites

Melaleuca.com
I really like melaleuca.com for the way it is laid out with the tabs and the quick links. However, I do not really like that it does not validate and it is confusing when you go into the other tabs.
Google.com
I really like google.com because they do not crowd the home page with so much stuff that you lose your focus and forget why you came to the site. I do not like the links on the top. They are just a word and I like it when you have a specific location to click and not just a word.
Nationalgeographic.com
I like nationalgeographic.com because on their home page they have the main picture change every few seconds so it keeps your attention. I also like that mostly the site looks professional. I do not like that there is too much going on. It feels like are pulled in a million directions and you do not know where to go.

Content

Home Page

  • The home page will be pretty basic but will have links to the other areas of the site.
  • I want the home page to set a good mood for the rest of the site.

About Us/ Contact Pages

  • The about me page is going to tell the user a little bit about the company and a little bit about the photographers (my wife and I).
  • The contact page will have all the information necessary to contact us.

Prints, Photography/Services, Gallery, and Pricing Pages

  • There will be pages to showcase the different services I offer and the different locations I have gotten the pictures from in the prints section.
  • All of the sites will have plenty of pictures to look at for samples.
  • The pricing page will give the consumer all the information they need to price the prints and services and also how to contract us or order prints.
